For over 50 years, we’ve provided radio communications including a vital VHF service through Channel 66 & Channel 4, ensuring boaters, lake users, and local commercial operators stay connected and have peace of mind when boating, working or exploring Lake Wānaka and Lake Hāwea.
As a registered not-for-profit, our service is entirely run by volunteers and supported by generous donations from local businesses, our members and community groups.
Being a member specifically of the VHF channels run by Roys Peak Radio Users, gives you ultimate peace of mind. Your call for help is heard by a network of users, ensuring reliable, quick assistance no matter where you are on the lake. With full coverage and a community of listeners, you’re never alone when you need help most.

This gives you access to both radio channels, so you can call for help anytime, anywhere on the lakes.
